WHAT DO I NEED TO DRIVE MY OWN BOAT?

If born ON or AFTER January 1, 1988 you must have a VALID Florida Boaters Safety ID Card. You may obtain a temporary card online by going to www.boat-ed.com/florida.
We require to demonstrate your “driving” Boating Skills during a 15 min hands-on orientation and you will always have the option to hire a USCG Licensed Captain.NOTE: The orientation is NOT to teach you how to drive/navigate a boat. You may avoid $1,000.00 Security Deposit by Hiring a USCG Licensed Captain from our list.

If born BEFORE 1988, we do not require a Florida Boaters Safety ID Card without Captain. DO I NEED TO KNOW HOW TO DRIVE A BOAT OR HAVE A BOATERS LICENSE?

We do not required a boaters license. But you will need to demonstrate your “driving” boating skills during a 15min hands-on orientation. And you will always have the option to hire a USCG Licensed Captain.
NOTE: The orientation is NOT to teach you how to drive/navigate a boat.

HOW MUCH IS THE SECURITY DEPOSIT TO DRIVE THE BOAT ON MY OWN.?

BOATS: $1,000

HOW MUCH DOES A CAPTAIN CHARGE?

Boats from 20' to 27' Captain’s Fee is $35.00 per hour ( cash ), after 6 pm $40.00 per hour
Boats from 32' to 54' Captain’s Fee is $40.00 per hour ( cash ), after 6 pm $45.00 per hour
Must sign a Captain’s Agreement

WHAT WILL A CAPTAIN DO ASIDE FROM DRIVING THE BOAT?

Captain’s work as a “private chauffeur”, if you have plan your trip the Captain will follow it. If not, the Captain will suggest an itinerary according to your schedule time frame.

CAN I TAKE A BOAT OUT ON THE OCEAN?

Only by hiring one of the USCG Licensed Captain’s available for hire.

WHAT DO I NEED TO GO FISHING?

The state of Florida requires children over 16 years of age and seniors under the age of 65 years of age A RECREATIONAL FISHING PERMIT. You may obtain a fishing permit online by going to: https://license.myfwc.com

WHERE CAN I GO WITH THE BOAT.

If you rent a boat with out a captain you have to keep the boat in the Miami Biscayne Bay Only(Intracoastal). NORTH: up to Haulover Sandbar & SOUTH: 1/4 mile before the Florida Cape Light House in Key Biscayne Park. If you take the boat out of the approved zone and anything happens, our fault or yours you will have to pay to bring the boat back to Miami. You are not allowed to take the boat on the Ocean on your own, No Exceptions! If you hire a captain you can go almost anywhere except Cuba.

CAN I TAKE THE BOAT TO ELLIOT KEY.

Elliot Key is outside of Miami so the same rules apply as above.

CAN WE TAKE THE BOAT TO THE BAHAMAS ?

Only with a captain and keep in mind that it’s not when you want to go but when the weather allows you to go.

CAN I BRING FOOD & DRINKS ABOARD?

Yes, and we’ll provide you with a cooler to store your drinks and snacks.
If you bring alcoholic drinks, the designator driver is prohibited from drinking as he/she will be responsible for everyone on board and the boat.
Otherwise, you may hire a USCG Licensed Captain.

WHATS THE LATEST I CAN BRING THE BOAT BACK?

See “Hours & Schedule”. If out on your own & schedule an afternoon or all day trip, you must have boat back at marina by no later than 6:30 pm.

CAN I TAKE A BOAT OUT AT NIGHT?

Only by hiring a USCG Licensed Captain. See Biscayne Bay sparkle while cruising at Sunset. Or stop at a water front restaurant for dinner.

WHAT OTHER FEES DO I NEED TO PAY ASIDE FROM RENTAL FEE & CAPTAIN’S FEE?

Fuel: We will determine the total consumption when your return the boat & charge you total gallons per hour used as per boat description. *Price per gallon will vary as per market value. You may also have the option to re-fuel yourself during your own time.

Tax: A 7% Florida tax is added to Rental Fee and to Fuel Cost

CAN I FUEL THE BOAT ON MY OWN ?

Yes, but fuel MUST BE “Ethanol FREE Marine Fuel”. Otherwise you’ll be responsible for any damages to our engines if filled with regular fuel and must be done on your own time.
